Johnson Controls Gets Involved! by Aria Charles, Grant Writer
Pittsburgh has a strong tradition of philanthropy and volunteerism, and the local office of Johnson Controls is a perfect example of the spirit of helping people in need.
Johnson Controls is an international company headquartered in Milwaukee with a strong emphasis on community service. In order to give each branch office the opportunity to organize and give back to their community, they developed an international program called “Blue Sky Involve.”
This program gives each affiliate office the opportunity to make donations to organizations they volunteer with. Once an event is organized, and a proposal is submitted to “Blue Sky Involve,” the group can receive a $1,000 award for the organization!
Through “Blue Sky Involve,” the Pittsburgh branch office employees started volunteering for Produce to People (P2P) three years ago. They enjoyed it so much the first year that P2P has been requested by the staff each year, bringing the Food Bank their much appreciated services and $2,000!
“The satisfaction of working hand in hand, directly helping people less fortunate than ourselves, has been very rewarding for everyone,” says Johnson Controls’ Judie Kretzler. “This year we are planning on two dates - one in June and one in August!”
Thanks to all of our friends at Johnson Controls for their continuing support of both the Produce to People program and the Food Bank!
