2012 has gotten off to a great start with several successful events. Thanks to all the organizers, volunteers and sponsors of Blues for Food, Empty Bowls and D-Jam!
February’s 19th Annual Blues for Food brought another appreciative crowd to Domenico’s to enjoy the day-long parade of great local blues bands. Thanks to the Jim Doerr Band, The Rhythm Hawks, Mark Demeno Band, Miss Freddye & Blue Faze, Waldo Young Band, Jimmy Adler Blues Band, and to Eugene & his faithful Nightcrawlers for keeping the event going year after year. Look for Blues for Food – Summer Session in August!
It was also another good year for Empty Bowls. Rodef Shalom Congregation once more welcomed a crowd of more than 1,400 supporters of the Food Bank and Just Harvest. Thanks especially to all the volunteers, soup & bowl donors, and to our sponsors: Fifth Third Bank, Hefren-Tillotson, Giant Eagle, UPMC Health Plan, Comcast, 91.3 WYEP FM, Rodef Shalom Congregation and WPXI-TV Channel 11. We hope to get bowl-soliciting a little earlier this fall, so if you know any bowl-makers, studios, or ceramics programs that might be interested in making and donating bowls, please let us know.
And most recently, D-Jam really rocked the house this year when Dave and theCAUSE welcomed special guest Steve Kimock! The event raised almost twice its usual take! Thanks to D-Jam sponsors Dr. David Lackner, 91.3 wyep fm, Dave Zubrow, Pittsburgh East Nissan, Terrapin Packaging, and the Alliance Cardiology Group!
